Cricket has been played at The Grove since the founding of the club in 1856 and is thriving in 2025. We run 4 adult men's teams, a women's softball team and development team, and 7 junior teams (4 mixed/boys, 3 girls).
Men's Cricket
On Saturdays Hythe compete in the Kent League and our Sunday team plays in the Kent Village League. We have a thriving social cricket team playing on Monday evenings, and an exciting mid week T20 competition 'The Hythe Smash'. We have weekly nets sessions on Wednesday evenings during the outdoor season.
New players are always welcome, whether you are looking to play competitive league cricket, or get back into cricket with some training sessions and take part in the odd friendly fixture.
Women's Cricket
We have a softball team playing in tournaments and friendly games, and in 2025 a new development cricket team, for those wanting to play hardball cricket. Our current players are aged between 18 and 60+ and we welcome everyone, with or without any cricket experience. We run weekly softball training sessions through the summer - all you need is a pair of trainers and a sense of humour to join in!
We welcome anyone interested in umpiring or scoring too, and can help you learn or refresh the skills you need, if you'd like to have a go!

Junior Cricket
The club offers cricket coaching for children and young people aged 7 (Year 3) to 16, from England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) qualified coaches. Our U11, U13 & U15 junior teams compete in the Saxon Shore League, and play friendly matches throughout the season. Our very first girls team launched in 2022, and a fabulous group of players age 8 - 16 now train together each week.
Junior training is on Sunday mornings from 27th April 2025 to early September. Players in Year 5 and above train from 10.00am - 12noon, while players in Years 3&4 train from 10.00am - 11.00am. The first session is free, then junior training is £4 per session, pay as you go.
Children train in age and ability appropriate groups, with fun exercises and mini games for younger children, and hard ball coaching for older players. Cricket equipment is provided, and we welcome complete beginners as well as more experienced young cricketers.
Young players are welcome to join us for an introduction and free taster session on sunday mornings. Contact juniorcricket@hythecsc.com
